AFTER PROM
Parents: We have had a special request to help with After Prom in two ways. First, we need some people to repair some of the casino games (two Plinko boards) before the May 4th prom date. This might be a great job for someone who’s good with their hands. And we also need people to volunteer for the casino room, setting up before, breaking down the next day and volunteering at After Prom. Please consider volunteering in one way or another. Contact Steve Brewer steve@sjbinfotech.com if you can help.

SCHEDULE
The dates for State have been corrected. The correct dates are Thursday May 16 and Friday May 17. They had previously been listed as Friday and Saturday.

Wed April 10—Meet against Littleton at Heritage HS—4:30pm
Littleton, Heritage, and Arapahoe will compete at Heritage High School.
Each swimmer will enter in two individual events. There will be limited relay opportunities.
No transportation (bus) to Heritage. All swimmers should transport themselves to the meet. Please meet in the pool area immediately after school on Wednesday. Those in need of a ride should arrange a ride to Heritage.
Depart from the AHS West Parking lot at 3:45 pm

There will NOT be bus transportation to the Cherry Creek away meet on April 18th. Please plan to get your swimmers to Cherry Creek after school.

VOLUNTEER NEEDS
A big thank you from Coach Richmond and the Board for all the volunteer efforts at the AHS Invite this last weekend. This meet and the AHS Relays raise funds for the team and we appreciate all the busy volunteers.

We’ve added a volunteer request to bring snacks for the girls Timing Club that’s helping our timing requirements this season. There are two slots for each home meet—please consider bringing treats to entice these young volunteers.
To volunteer in any capacity, go to our Sign Up Genius:

We are also looking for a parent that can help with finding advertising for the A League program. If you could help, contact Coach Randy rmhyre@gmail.com or Steve Brewer steve@sjbinfotech.com

HEART OF A WARRIOR SCHOLARSHIP
*PARENTS—This is a great opportunity that Coach Taylor is leading. If you know a business that can help, please let us know. And if a parent is willing to take a lead on this project, please notify Coach Taylor. *
From Coach Taylor: I have been working on getting a scholarship built for the senior boys. I have all the approvals I need and am now in the process of building the scholarship committee, drafting qualifications, and pursuing donations. The scholarship will be called the Heart of a Warrior Scholarship. My goal is build a scholarship that allows a senior the opportunity to receive $1000 from their Freshman to Senior year in college. I’m reaching out to all of you to see if any of you own small businesses that would like to donate to the scholarship or work for companies that would be interested in contributing to the scholarship. If you have any interest, please reach out to me or Tina Brewer. Thank you!

KING SOOPERS CARD UPDATES
An update from the King Soopers organization about their new approach:
Dear Arapahoe High School Boys Swimming & DIving Team,
For more than 70 years, King Soopers has been committed to supporting the communities where its associates live and work. The King Soopers Neighborhood Rewards Program has helped nearly 5,000 organizations raise funds, and none of that would be possible without your support.

We know that supporting your community nonprofit should never be difficult. Starting on April 1st we are launching a new program to make it easier than ever before. This new program will allow those who support your organization to simply use their registered King Soopers loyalty card to earn funds for your organization.

Here’s How It Works:
· No more reloadable gift cards (this will now be tied to the King Soopers loyalty card)
· Share your organization or group number with friends, family, colleagues and mutual supporters
· It will pay out every quarter (starting at the end of 2nd quarter in 2019)
· Check and statement will be sent out 30 days after the end of the cycle
· Over TEN million dollars will be donated annually with this new program
· These links have great information to help with the process and answer most, if not all questions.

Your group members and supporters can enroll their King Soopers Loyalty Cards online at our secure website, www.Kingsoopers.com/communityrewards. Starting now, you can invite members to begin enrolling on-line. Starting April 1, 2019 every time an enrolled member of your group shops at King Soopers using his or her enrolled King Soopers Loyalty Card, your organization will earn rewards. In addition, once a household member enrolls his or her card, all linked King Soopers Loyalty Cards within that household will begin earning funds for your organization.

Thank you for being a part of the King Soopers Neighborhood Rewards Program. We look forward to continuing to partner with your organization in the future as a King Soopers Community Rewards member and the millions of ways we can make a difference in our communities.

Please send any questions to kingsooperscommunityrewards@kingsoopers.com

Warrior News Headlines:
Practice Schedule/Varsity & JV Teams
Meets This Week
Volunteer Needs
Establishing Warrior Scholarship

PRACTICE CHANGES
From Coach Richmond: Texts were sent to boys today informing them of their swim status (Varsity, JV etc). On behalf of the coaches, we are requesting that several swimmers be moved to JV on a temporary basis until we see an improvement. in the following categories:

1. Injury status – inability to train at the varsity level.

2. Training behavior – inconsistent commitment, dedication and willingness to practice at the standard varsity requires.

3. We have numerous committed swimmers working hard at JV practices. Their consistent training will be rewarded by moving to the Varsity training group.

4. In addition, a number of swimmers that missed the spring break practices will be moved down. A few have experienced ongoing injury issues prior to the break. It will be in their best interest to progressively re-engage their training.

5. Varsity swimmers moved down are welcome to attend the Varsity morning practices but they must practice with the JV group on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5-6:30 pm and on Tuesday morning from 6:50 – 7:50 am. There is no Thursday PM practice scheduled for JV.

All swimmers will be evaluated on a weekly basis to determine attendance, effort, and commitment to the team. We value each individual on the team and hope that you will rise up to the challenge and become a consistent contributor to the team.

Practice Schedule:
Varsity/Advanced Training Group

Afternoons – 3:40 – 6:10 pm M.T.W.Th.F.
Mornings – Monday 6:50-7:50 am / Wednesday 7:50-8:50 am
Saturdays – 8-10:30 am (every Saturday unless we have a meet. T.B.D.)

Varsity II Training Group
Afternoons – 3:40 – 5:30 pm M.T.W.Th.F.
Note – many of our Varsity II swimmers have been attending morning practices. At this point, we suggest they attend one morning practice (either Mon or Wed)
Mornings – Monday 6:50-7:50 am / Wednesday 7:50-8:50 am
Saturdays – 8-10:30 am (every Saturday unless we have a meet. T.B.D.)

JV Practice Schedule:
Afternoons – 5-6:30 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Tuesday morning from 6:50 – 7:50 am.

SCHEDULE
Thurs April 4 5:00pm—Grandview at AHS—This meet will feature swimmers who were able to practice over Spring Break.

Sat April 6 9:00am—AHS Invitational at AHS, versus Brighton, Aurora, Cherokee Trail, Northfield, Diving follows Swim Meet
Our schedule is regularly updated at:

VOLUNTEER NEEDS
This team survives on its great volunteer workforce. Right now there is need for Tuesday’s JV Breakfast and we still need someone to start assembling the End of Season Banquet program. The JV breakfast work is a great way for JV parents to meet one another! And the Banquet Program is a pretty easy job you can do on your own time. If you can help in either of these roles, please email Sandi Stephenson sandi@frii.com or Lisa Wuthrich lisawuthrich19@gmail.com

Warrior News Headlines:
Coaches Invite & State Qualifiers
No Optional Practices Monday and Tuesday
Spring Break Schedule
ANOTHER NEW King Soopers Update
Swim ‘N Things Suit sale

COACHES INVITE AND STATE QUALIFIERS
Congratulations to the Warriors who finished Fifth in the Coaches Invite this weekend. We added five State qualifiers this weekend: Jack Berdahl, Ben Brewer, Nick Stephenson, Luke Wiesner, and Davis Wuthrich. They join Daniel Bensen, Jack Giesen, Fletcher Hayes, and diver Danny Beatty who qualified in the first meets. All the State Qualifiers are listed on the right side of the main swim page ahsswimdive.com

NO OPTIONAL PRACTICES THIS WEEK
The optional practices that had been announced on Monday and Tuesday are canceled because AHS super-chlorinated the pool over the weekend and it will not be usable until Wednesday.

SPRING BREAK
We will resume practicing on Wednesday, March 27. We expect all team members to attend the spring break practices listed below:

Wednesday, March 27 – Saturday, March 30
Varsity Swim 8-10:30 am
JV Swim 10:30am -12:15 pm

Diving
Diving 12:15 – 2 pm (Coach Smith may adjust the diving schedule to later in the day TBD)

From Coach Richmond: We will continue watching the Univ. of Arizona 2007 “Water to Wood” swimming video. We would like the entire swimming team to be apart of the team meetings in the Forum. Divers are not required to watch the video or attend the meetings unless Coach Jeff Smith mandates attendance with our divers. AHS Swimming and Diving have reserved the AHS Forum from 3:30 p.m. – 4:10 p.m on the following Mondays: 4/1, 4/15, 4/29

KING SOOPERS CARDS
Along with the change in format for the King Soopers card previously explained, we are now hearing that there may be a different (and lesser) payback from using the cards. If true, this would be unfortunate as this has been a popular fundraising technique for the team. We are investigating the change and will report back as soon as we can. You can still use the King Soopers card but it may not pay you back as well as it has in the past. More info soon.
